A trip to the beloved nursery has been a holiday family tradition for decades, and their free events include pictures with Santa, a live brass band, letters to/from Santa and an animated Christmas story walk-through.
The beautifully decorated store provides inspiration as well as many picture-perfect moments.
- The Christmas gallery features an exquisite display of fully decorated lifelike Christmas trees and holiday décor that highlight the latest trends as well as traditional favorites.
- There are more than 90 pre-lit lifelike trees on display in the artificial tree yard exclusively made for Hicks Nurseries.
- A vast selection of farm-fresh live Christmas trees come in the end of November in sizes up to 14 feet and can be pre-ordered now to avoid the rush.
- The greenhouse is stocked with the finest indoor plants, including seasonal poinsettias, amaryllis and Christmas cactus.

Meet & Take Pictures with Santa: Santa will be at Hicks daily, Monday-Friday 1-4 pm and 5-8 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10 am-1 pm and 2-6 pm, Nov. 25 through Dec. 23.
Live Brass Band: A popular brass band helps customers get into the holiday spirit with lively music weekends Nov. 26 through Dec. 18, 12-3 pm.
Mail a Letter to Santa: Drop a letter in the North Pole mailbox and get a response from Santa himself. Mailbox is open Nov. 14 through Dec. 19.

Asia-Pacific’s Travel Industry Could Be the First to Recover by 2023
MELBOURNE, Australia - November 2, 2022 - (Newswire.com)
According to Inspiring Vacations, provider of exciting worldwide experiences including tours to Alaska, Scandinavia tours and everywhere in between, the pace of recovery for the tourism industry has been strong, as more places reduce or remove travel restrictions and the demand pent up during the pandemic is released.
Inspiring Vacations explains that certain factors pose a risk to the recovery of the travel industry around the world including rising inflation, high energy prices, labour shortages at airports and lockdowns in China.
Despite these concerns, the annual report produced by London-based World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) shows that Asia-Pacific is expected to recover at an incredibly strong pace. The report highlighted that tourism revenue dropped in the Asia-Pacific by 59% in 2020, which was more than anywhere else in the world.
The Alaska tours operator explains that in 2021, with most countries in the region maintaining strong border restrictions, recovery to the travel industry was muted. The WTTC report showed revenue from tourism in Asia-Pacific contributed only 16% to regional gross domestic product while in Europe that figure was 28% and 23% in North America.
This year, however, the WTTC report indicates that Asia-Pacific travel revenue is expected to contribute 71% to the overall economy. Inspiring Vacations says travel in the region is skyrocketing, with restrictions eased or removed in most countries.
The WTTC report expects Asia-Pacific's travel industry to continue to gain traction with positive growth forecast in 2023 and 2024. It estimates that by 2025, travel revenue will contribute 32% more to the region's GDP than pre-pandemic levels.
In more exciting news for the industry, the WTTC report predicts that 126 million new jobs will be added in the next decade, with 65% of the new jobs expected to be in Asia-Pacific.

Dynapower, a global leader in power conversion and energy storage solutions, has partnered with Alphastruxure and Montgomery County, Maryland to provide energy storage that will help provide uninterrupted power to the county's fleet of electric buses using on-site generation including renewable resources.
The Brookville Smart Energy Bus Depot uses an integrated system of solar, microgrid energy storage, and electric charging stations which will eventually power 70 electric buses (50% of the Brookville bus fleet) with 4.14 megawatts of charging capacity. Transitioning these 70 buses at the depot from diesel to electric, powered by the on-site clean energy microgrid, will reduce lifetime emissions by 62 percent, equivalent to more than 160,000 tons of greenhouse gases over the next 25 years.
Dynapower's 3 megawatt/4.3 megawatt hour CPS-i Integrated Energy Storage System provides the microgrid battery energy storage for the depot, storing power to charge the electric buses and enabling 100% operational capacity in the event of a grid outage. It also allows participation in a demand response program with Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco), which supports regional grid performance and optimization for greater energy resilience for local residents and businesses.
Statewide, Maryland is working towards a 50 percent zero-emission bus fleet by 2030. The Brookville Smart Energy Bus Depot is aligned with the county's priorities to reduce emissions from public transportation while enhancing the resilience of the community and infrastructure assets.
